Coates Hire Rally Australia Preview – The World Rally Championship (WRC) this week heads south from Europe to compete on the challenging roads around Coffs Harbour for Rally Australia.

Now in its fifth year, Rally Australia for the fourth year in a row will be held in the coastal city of Coffs Harbour, situated seven hours North of Sydney and five hours South of Brisbane.

2014 Results

Last year saw a tight battle between Sebastian Ogier and Jari-Matti Latvala to the end of the very last stage. Ogier took victory but by the smallest of margins which also helped Volkswagen Motorsport claim their second Manufacturers Title.

Preview

There will be three full days of competition which starts on Friday 11th September. On Saturday the Rally will be staged in the Nambucca Region, south of Coffs Harbour with Sunday’s action moving to the North East of Coffs Harbour and Orara Lower Bucca State Forests.

With 17 stages in total, the majority will be staged south of Coffs near Macksville, with 311km of fast flowing, hard base, tight and twisty competitive roads.

Many of the stages will include shire roads which are closely trees lined making Rally Australia very unique.

Travelling through dense rainforest, the low angle of the sun in the mornings and in the evenings can create a strobe effect as light flashes through the branches making it extremely difficult to see and concentrate.

With Ogier only needing a few points to secure the drivers title, he may back off slightly to secure the win, or will he push to the end?

Rally Australia is set to be another exciting event.
