Volvo Polestar Racing On Track At F1

MyDrive | Volvo Australia – Volvo Polestar Racing are back at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne this weekend, the very place where the team scored its first ever V8 Supercars victory last year in the Volvo S60.

”We had our first win here last year and it is definitely something we want to do again this weekend,” said Scott McLaughlin.

The Kiwi had a tough season start two weeks ago at the Clipsal 500 where strong pace in qualifying and the races was thwarted by penalties and mechanical issues.

”Obviously after the Clipsal weekend it is important for us to show that we are on it. I really feel that we have got a strong car and this is one of my favourite tracks,” said McLaughlin.

McLaughlin is joined by a new team mate in the form of fellow Kiwi Chris Pither who steps in for David Wall this weekend. Wall has been forced to sit out this race weekend due to an injured right foot but is expected to be back in the next race.

Pither has previously driven various touring car and GT championships in Australia as well as New Zealand and races in the Dunlop V8 Supercar Development Series this season.

”Obviously I am pretty excited to join Volvo Polestar Racing at the Australian Grand Prix, it is a fantastic opportunity that I am grateful for. I have not really got any expectations going into this weekend but I will definitely be trying my hardest without taking any unnecessary risks,” said Pither.

The V8 Supercars weekend in Melbourne together with the Formula 1 Grand Prix is a non-championship round, meaning that no points will be awarded to the championship.

The weekend starts with practice and qualifying on Thursday, followed by four races from Friday to Sunday.
