Volvo Australia turns on the charm with new Melbourne dealership

MyDrive | Volvo Car Australia – Volvo Cars Bilia new showroom at 441 Malvern Road, South Yarra was officially opened before 100 guests, including dealer principal, Chris Stillwell and Volvo Car Australia Managing Director, Kevin McCann. Also present were a number of dignitaries, among them Mathias Lundgren, Volvo Car Group Market Area Director for Asia Pacific. Richard Wilkins, Volvo Cars ambassador led the proceedings with guests being entertained by accomplished violinist Sally Cooper.

The Volvo Retail Experience concept is based on contrasts, open versus closed, warm versus cold. The glass facade with the wooden framed showroom entrance feature is designed to draw attention and highlight the cars on display.

In contrast to the cool exteriors, customers will find the interiors warm and welcoming

The interior of new car showroom consists of ‘The Street’ and ‘The Living Area’. The Street is characterised by its raw yet sophisticated appeal, while the Living Room area is perceived as welcoming and relaxed.

The opening of Volvo Cars Bilia comes at a very exciting time for Volvo Cars in Australia. With the recent introduction of the All-New XC90, and a further product onslaught to follow over the next four years, Volvo Cars Bilia customers can expect an experience that centres on people.

With the introduction of the Volvo Retail Experience the dealership also launched Volvo Personal Service which is designed to minimise waiting times during a vehicle service.

Customers who book in for a service at Volvo Cars Bilia will have an assigned Volvo Personal Service technician who will deal with them directly in the ‘living room’ and, if necessary, escort them into the workshop.

Dealer principal, Chris Stillwell, said the Volvo Retail Experience at Volvo Cars Bilia is not just about a change of furniture and décor.

“It’s a new way of retailing designed to make our customers feel relaxed and at ease in an environment that informs and provides flexible waiting, working and assessment areas. It really is all about the customer.

“It also demonstrates that Volvo is respectful of our customers’ time. By attending a specific appointment and relaxing or working at the dealership while the car is being serviced with a minimum disruption to their day.

“Our customers also gain confidence that their requirements are clearly understood by speaking directly with the technicians working on their car.

“The team at Volvo Cars Bilia has been outstanding while we have undergone the transition from our old premises in Hawthorn to South Yarra. They’ve continued to deliver the exceptional high levels of service our customers are used to.

“We look forward to serving our customers in our new premises to deliver a true Volvo Retail Experience.”

Volvo Car Australia Managing Director, Kevin McCann, said: “The opening of Volvo Cars Bilia is a clear statement by the Stillwell Motor Group of their passion for Volvo and their commitment to great customer service.

“Volvo Cars Bilia is the first showroom of its kind in Australia and marks the start of a journey that positons Volvo as a truly global automotive brand that understands people.

Volvo Retail Experience and Volvo Personal Service is what sets us apart and underpins our Swedish heritage by putting people at the centre of everything we do,” he said.
