Practice 1

The second practice session for the V8 Supercars in morning gave the main championship drivers 60 minutes to dial in their setups for the rest of the weekend.

David Wall ending the session fastest in his Wilson Security backed Volvo S60, after completing his session on the Dunlop’s soft tyre option.

Jamie Whincup finally started to show some pace ending the session with the second fastest time in his Holden Commodore with Ash Walsh ending the session third fastest in his 3M backed Erebus Mercedes E63 AMG.

Practice 2

Prior to the second practice session, Holden Racing Team’s James Courtney was injured and taken to hospital with serious injuries which were a result of being hit by flying debris in pit lane during an Australian Navy helicopter demonstration.

The helicopter’s low pass, caused a downdraft that damaged the Holden Racing Team pit boom sending Courtney to hospital and Jack Perkins, Courtney’s enduro co-driver, back out on track to complete the session.

The practice session gave teams another 60 minutes to dial in their cars. With teams opting to use another fresh set of Dunlop hard tyres, it was Chaz Mostert (Pepsi Max Crew) who made the most of the conditions, setting a 1:29.9026 lap time to end the session fastest for Ford.

Holden’s Tim Slade (Supercheap Auto Racing) and Shane Van Gisbergen (Team Darrell Lea) ended the session second and third fastest.
