V8 Supercars | Preview

The V8 Supercars Championship kicks into endurance race mode with the Sandown 500 in Melbourne this weekend. This is the traditional lead up to the famous Bathurst 1000 and the first of three rounds featuring co-drivers that make up the Pirtek Enduro Cup.

This weekend will feature two qualifying sprint races, one each for primary and co-drivers to determine the grid for Sunday’s 500 kilometre race.

Prodrive Racing Australia will be looking to continue their domination of the championship with their Pepsi Max Crew duo of Mark Winterbottom (1915 points) and Chaz Mostert (1741 points) now enjoying a clear lead at the top of the championship table.

Best of the rest is Red Bull Racing Australia’s Craig Lowndes who sits in third with 1741 points. However with Prodrive’s Bottle-O Racing entry of David Reynolds is less than 30 point behind Lowndes and there will be serious pressure on Reynolds to get a good results.
