WRC | 2015 World Rally Championship – Rally Finland Preview

Finland is known for its free flowing roads with some suggesting the layout resembles the design of classical music notes and for this reason it is knowns as the ‘flat out rally’.

In 2014 Volkswagen’s Jari-Matti Latvala used his home rally advantage to win with his teammate Sebastian Ogier finishing in second and Citroen’s Kris Meeke placing third.

Overall speed is key to a good result here in Finland with most cars averaging 130km/85mi over the entire event, only Rally Poland comes close to this average speed.

Drivers and their navigators spend a lot of time insuring they are in the right position on the road when entering and exiting corners and blind crests can end in a costly mistake or in a paddock!

The event is based in Jyväskylä, 350km north of Finland’s capital, Helsinki.

Stages are held 100km north, 50km east and 80km to the North East, with over 320km of competitive stages. Rally Finland is now ready for take-off.
