Fast times came at the end of the 30 minute qualifying session as the track started to dry out after a brief shower early on Saturday morning.

At the end of the session it was Shae Davis (No. 88 Davbridge Constructions) who was fastest with a time of 1:29.3396, managing to set a new lap record for the category at Sydney Motorsport Park. Nick Foster (No. 777 Bob Jane T-Marts) and Matt Campbell (No. 7 Phase 8) also set times under the existing lap record to the second and third fastest times.

Race 1

Shae Davis (No. 88 Davbridge Constructions) and Nick Foster (No. 777 Bob Jane T-Marts) jumped prematurely at the start of the first race with both awarded with five second race time penalty for their troubles which didn’t help Davis as he fell to third on track after being passed by Matt Campbell (No. 7 Phase 8) early in the race.

With time penalties applied, Matt Campbell took the chequered flag for the first race with Forster close behind in second and Steven Richards (No. 1 Laser Plumbing and Electrical) crossing the line in third.

Race 2

The second race of the weekend would take place late Saturday afternoon with Campbell leading the race from start to finish with championship leader Steven Richards running into issues after making contact with Davis. Sadly for Richards this ended his race and sent him to the back of the grid for the final race of the weekend.

Matt Campbell (No. 7 Phase 8) finished on the top step of the podium with Nick Foster (No. 777 Bob Jane T-Marts) taking second and David Russell (No. 10 Finance Ezi) taking third.

Race 3

Rain made another appearance prior to the final race of the weekend which again made for tricky track conditions but Nick Foster proved the rain master as he shot off into the lead and to take the win. Porsche veteran Craig Baird (No. 8 Porsche Centre Melbourne) moved his way through the field to finish second while David Russell backed his third place in Race two to take third place again.

A DNF in the second race really hampered Steven Richards title defence which has allowed Craig Baird to move within 30 points of the championship lead. Meanwhile Nick Foster after four DNF’s at the start of the season has moved into third place showing his dominance in the series since the Philip Island round.

The Australian Porsche Carrera Cup championship continues with Round 6 at Melbourne’s Sandown Raceway in September.
