My Drive | Lexus will return to the gruelling Nürburgring 24 Hour race this May with an LFA and IS F competing in the SP8 (naturally-aspirated engines) class. Preparations for Lexus’ sixth assault on the event got off to a flying start recently with the Gazoo Racing-prepared LFA taking class honours in a German VLN2 series three-and-a-half hour endurance race, ahead of the Ferrari 458 Italia and Aston Martin Vantage.

The Lexus IS F performance sedan, driven by Gran Turismo 5 creator Kazunori Yamauchi, finished third in the SP8 class, ahead of the Aston Martin. Lexus’ race team partner Gazoo Racing has competed in the famed endurance event since 2007 and uses Lexus’ own engineers and mechanics as a way of helping to develop better cars and encourage employee involvement.
