Hyundai Break Their Own Record Books

MyDrive | Hyundai Australia – Hyundai Motor Company Australia (HMCA) has finished the month with an all-time November record of 8,600 units sold. This is the 30th consecutive month of year-on-year sales growth for Hyundai. The result placed the brand second overall in the Australian market, equating to a 9.3% market share.

Total industry sales for the month of 92,232 were down -4.8% compared with the same period last year. By comparison Hyundai finished with the highest November sales on record up +0.8% on the same period last year.

For passenger car sales, Hyundai’s total of 5,903 units placed the brand in second position overall with a 13.7% market share.

Hyundai placed first in the Light segment for the month. A further five Hyundai models achieved podium results in November, with Veloster, ix35, iMax and iLoad all finishing in second place in their respective segments while the combined sales of i30 and Elantra had them finishing second in the Small segment, with i30 taking outright third place in that segment.

The i20 continues to be the number one selling vehicle in the competitive Light <$25k segment with 1,448 units sold in November, achieving a 16.2% segment share. This was the tenth consecutive month the i20 has led its segment.

“This is an outstanding result in a challenging market,” said John Elsworth, Chief Operating Officer Hyundai Motor Company Australia. “We head into the final month of sales for the year in a strong position, focused and motivated as we chase a best-ever annual sales result for the brand.”

Hyundai Motor Company Australia – November 2014 Results:

  • Light Cars <$25k: i20 ranked first with sales of 1,448 units and a segment share of 16.2%, while Accent ranked 11th with sales of 381 units and a segment share of 4.3%
  • Small Cars <$40k: i30 ranked third with sales of 2,886 units and a segment share of 15.6%, while Elantra ranked 10th with sales of 549 units and a segment share of 3.0%. Combined sales of the two models of 3,435 placed the brand in second place overall for the segment.
  • Medium <$60k: i40 ranked fifth with sales of 197 units and 4.8% segment share
  • Large <$70k: Genesis ranked fourth with sales of 53 units and 1.7% segment share
  • SUV Small <$40k: ix35 ranked second with sales of 1,697 units and 22.7% segment share
  • SUV Large <$70k: Santa Fe ranked sixth with sales of 670 units and 7.8% segment share
  • Sports Cars <$80k: Veloster ranked second with sales of 205 units and 17.4% segment share
  • People Movers <$60K: iMax ranked second with sales of 184 units and 24.7% segment share
  • Van/CC 2.5-3.5t: iLoad ranked second with sales of 330 units and 25.3% segment share


Hyundai Motor America reported November sales of 53,672 units sold for the month. 2015 model Genesis sedan recorded outstanding results up +57% for the month, and was recently named ALG’s Residual Value Award winner.
