MyDrive | Shell and Scuderia Ferrari – The engineering tolerance in Formula 1 have become stricter and leaner with each passing year due to significant rules changes and teams looking to capitalise on the slightest of margins in the hope of gaining that successful edge.

When designing a component for an F1 car, a team of engineers can take weeks if not months to develop the smallest component some of which can be seen while others are hidden away under the carbon-composite body panels.

To achieve that winning advantage, Shell joined the Scuderia Ferrari Formula Team as their Innovation Partner.

Shell and Scuderia Ferrari are working closer than ever before to create powerful blends of Shell V-Power to be used in the 1.6L Hybrid Turbocharged V6 engine for the 2016 F1 championship.

Earlier today, Scuderia Ferrari drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen spoke about the performance gains and tested fuel samples in the Shell Track Lab ahead of the 2016 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.

Together with Ian Shell Technical Expert, Ian Albiston and the drivers spoke in detail about the unparalleled 25% of total performance gain to the SF 15-T Formula 1 power unit Shell delivered to Ferrari in late 2015.

This performance gain gave Ferrari almost half a second per lap, equating to an average of 30 seconds over a race distance.

Ferrari will be looking to replicate this result as they aim for more victories during the 2016 F1 Championship which starts this weekend in Melbourne Australia.
