BMW’s attention grabbing X5 and X6 M models

MyDrive | BMW Australia – It’s not too often that performance figures of an SUV take you by total by surprise although when you combine German, power, performance and prestige, it should be expected.  BMW have significantly raised the bar with the arrival of the new BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M entering a new phase of high-performance Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) and Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) segment.

When the previous generation models arrived in 2009, it represented a landmark for BMW, the first time the high-performance of a BMW M vehicle had been fused with the all-wheel-drive versatility of a BMW X model. The result was class-leading dynamics.

The new BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M pull no punches in writing the next chapter in this success story with another significant step forward in dynamic excellence, emotionally rich M design and outstanding efficiency.

They combine the characteristic features of the successful BMW X family – exclusivity, robustness, agility and everyday usability – with the commitment to high performance which defines an M car.
The latter is resoundingly highlighted by the cars’ impressive performance figures, with both models completing the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds in conjunction with the standard eight-speed M Steptronic transmission.

BMW Group Australia Chief Executive Officer Marc-Heinrich Werner lauded the new M models as showcases of trademark BMW innovation and performance.

“The new BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M are a testament to the engineering prowess of our M division, delivering an exhilarating driving experience,” Werner said.
“They are a wonderful showcase of BMW innovation and represent the ultimate blend of M performance with X versatility. These new models feature impressive advances in dynamics, power, performance and efficiency. Their level of performance is simply astonishing – 0 to 100 in 4.2 seconds.

“Our X models have blazed a trail for the premium car industry, and proven a considerable success in Australia. The BMW X5 M and X6 M will continue this story and make a mark with their trademark M performance.”

The new BMW X5 M is available from $185,900, while the new BMW X6 M starts at $194,700.  Both models accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.2 seconds when paired with standard eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and the 4.4 litre, V8, BMW TwinPower Turbo engine generates 423kW and 750Nm of torque, increases of four per cent, and 10 per cent respectively over the predecessor model.
